Suelin Chen

Suelin Chen is the Managing Director of Emergent Partners, where she works with high-impact teams on strategy, commercialization, and corporate development.
She was previously founder and CEO of Cake, the leading digital platform for advance care and end-of-life planning. Under her leadership, Cake served over 100 million people, transforming how families navigate one of life’s most challenging transitions. The company was acquired by FPG, the second largest funeral services provider in the US.
Earlier in her career, Suelin served as the Director of the Lab at Harvard University, advised healthcare companies on corporate and commercial strategy as a transaction advisor at IMS Health Capital, and conducted pioneering medical research at MIT, where she earned both her BS and PhD for developing new medical technologies to support clinical decision-making.
Recognized for her vision and leadership, Suelin has been named to Fortune 40 under 40 and the Care 100, honoring the most influential people in the future of care. Suelin currently serves on the boards of the Cambridge Insight Meditation Center, the Mass Fintech Hub, and the MIT List Visual Arts Center, and has been appointed as a City of Somerville Human Rights Commissioner.
