Renu Gupta

Entrepreneur, Community Leader & Philanthropist; Co-Founder, GT Solar and ARC Energy

Kedar and Renu Gupta are entrepreneurs who co-founded several companies, including GT Solar in 1994, a photovoltaic technology company started with just $1,000. At the time, solar technology was still in its infancy. Still, the company gradually grew into a significant commercial success with a global presence, ultimately leading to its initial public offering (IPO). In total, Kedar and Renu founded five companies, including ARC Energy, which focused on improving the technology for large-diameter sapphire crystals used in LED applications. In 2010, then-President Obama visited ARC Energy to announce his economic plans for small businesses, highlighting the company’s achievements as a prime example of American entrepreneurship.

Kedar earned his master’s and Ph.D. degrees in materials science and engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Renu holds a degree in Accounting from Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri.

Kedar Gupta is well-regarded for his entrepreneurial achievements and has received several accolades, including the New Hampshire High Tech Council Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 1998 and the 2005 National Small Business Environmental Exporter of the Year Award from the Export-Import Bank. Renu has also been honored, receiving the Woman of the Year award, 2025 from a prestigious Boston organization, India New England.

Both Kedar and Renu are actively involved in philanthropic efforts in the United States and India. They have sponsored numerous philanthropic efforts through organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club of Nashua, Pratham, Akshaya Patra, the MS Society, and the New Hampshire High Tech Council. Kedar published his first book, “Carving My Destiny,” in November 2023, which has received five-star ratings from readers. His sequel, which will explore 50 years of their journey together (“Carving Our Happiness”), is scheduled for publication later this year.

The couple resides in New Hampshire, where they enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.
